ICC Rankings Update: James Anderson’s remarkable career continues to reach new heights as England overtake Australia captain Pat Cummins and Indian spinner Ravichandran Ashwin to become the No. 1 ranked bowler in the latest MRF Tires ICC Men’s Test rankings.

Anderson rose to the top spot after taking seven wickets for England during their emphatic 267-run win over New Zealand at Mount Maunganui last week, ending the four-year reign of the evergreen 40-year-old Cummins. -Ranked Test Bowler.

It is the sixth time that Anderson has held the title as the leading bowler in the Test rankings, with the right-armer having first touched the heights in May 2016 when he managed to beat teammates to top billing in a prestigious international Stuart Broad and Ashwin were overtaken. Career that started back in 2003.

Nasser Hussain lots of praise on new Test No.1 bowler Jimmy Anderson.

Most recently, Anderson held the top ranking for five months in 2018, before the veteran pacer lost the top spot to South African pacer Kagiso Rabada in November of that year.

But the old adage that life begins at 40 certainly rings true for Anderson, who has found a new lease on life under new coach Brendon McCullum as England have won 10 of their last 11 tests.

Anderson has been a mainstay in most of those victories, and the England legend has now accumulated a total of 682 Test scalps. The spin duo are third on the all-time list of Test wickets in Test tournaments behind Muttiah Muralitharan (800) and Shane Warne (708).
