Khan, who impressed by taking six wickets in the recently concluded ODI series against South Africa, has been included in India’s Test squad for the second Test.
India struggled in the first Test against South Africa and suffered a heavy defeat by an innings and 32 runs.
India’s batsmen took the team to a respectable score in the first innings and their fast bowlers troubled South Africa’s batsmen in the beginning.
However, the Proteas took a huge lead of 163 runs after Prasidh Krishna and Shardul Thakur bowled brilliantly against South Africa’s pace attack to give the hosts an innings win.
Avesh is uncapped at Test level, but has represented India in eight ODIs and 19 T20Is. He has 149 first-class wickets to his name at an average of 22.65.
