ICC Player Ranking: Top 10 of the ICC Player Ranking in Test Cricket

In the latest ICC Men’s Player Rankings update, Indian batsman Virat Kohli has made a remarkable comeback into the top 10 of the MRF Tires ICC Player Rankings in Test cricket.

After his performance in the recent Test against South Africa, where he scored 38 and 76, Kohli has moved up four places to ninth position with a rating of 761. This places him as India’s top-ranked batsman in the list.

On the other hand, South African batsman Dean Elgar has also seen a good rise in the ranking after his brilliant performance in the first Test against India in Centurion.

Elgar scored an innings-winning 185 and moved up 19 places to 17th position with a rating of 680. This helped the Proteas gain 12 World Test Championship points.

In Australia, during the Boxing Day Test match against Pakistan, Mitchell Marsh made a significant rise in the batting rankings, moving up 16 places to 52nd with a rating of 504.

Mohammad Rizwan also jumped four places after his aggressive innings, while Travis Head remained intact. Despite falling four places, he remains in the top 10, maintaining his rating of 754.

In terms of overall Test batting rankings, New Zealand’s Kane Williamson holds the slight lead with a rating of 864, followed by Joe Root (859), and Australia’s Steve Smith (820) at the third position.

On the bowling front, Jasprit Bumrah has re-entered the Test bowling rankings, taking the fifth position with a rating of 767, behind his compatriot Ravindra Jadeja (774).

Meanwhile, in the Australia/Pakistan series, Aamer Jamal has made a strong impression by climbing 17 places to 57th in the bowling rankings after claiming 3/64 and 2/74.

In the all-rounder rankings, Marco Jensen has moved up five places to 8th, achieving his career-best rating of 268. Aamer Jamal, who also contributed important runs, has moved up 34 places to 68th in the all-rounder rankings.

In the T20I player rankings, there were notable changes with performances in the series involving Bangladesh, New Zealand and the United Arab Emirates.
Mitch Santner moved up eight places to eighth (657) after taking four wickets at Mount Maunganui. Shoriful Islam jumped 32 places, while Mustafizur Rahman moved up five places to 22nd (605).

In the Afghanistan vs UAE T20I series in Sharjah, Afghan batsman Ibrahim Zadran moved up 14 places to 33rd position after his half-century. In the bowling rankings, UAE’s Ali Naseer and Muhammad Jawadullah made significant gains by climbing 29 places and 22 places respectively.
